My mother was raised in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands and cooked and baked from scratch. I was raised to do the same before I started middle school. The business came from an idea I had after processing my mother’s passing in 2001. For several years it was painful to normalize her presence was gone, so I did something I’ve hadn’t done before. I baked chocolate chip cookies and sent them to family and friends as gifts during Christmas. The response was amazing because some said that this was delicious and said I should open a store. That lead to another idea, which was to start an online chocolate chip cookie business and that’s how Miss Myrtle’s Chocolate Chip Cookies began!
